Jesus the Light Ministry, Lucena City was started on the summer of 1996 through the unified vision of Lucena Baptist Church at Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City and the early workers wanted to have a daughter church in Isabang, a nearby barangay . It was a clear call from the Lord to its LBC leaders and mission committee members and to Pastor Francisco “Francis” Diwata and family. They sent Pastor Diwata’s family with the loving support of some LBC members.

At the onset of the response to the mission call, people responded to the Gospel and the first baptism was held on October of 1996 with six persons at Bukal ng Buhay Tayabas City, Quezon namely Fernando Alcoreza , Francisco Zoleta (+) , Paciano Mabulay (+) , Reynina Lacuesta – Zara and Mary Rose Aliento - Amora . It was followed with seventy more on the succeeding years. Through the united efforts of LBC, new members and friends, the chapel was built at a rented lot. The first worship service was held on February 16, 1997.
